Vaping Bill is almost there - can we get something to help achieve Smokefree 2025

The Vaping Bill passed its second reading around 11pm last night moving with urgency under extended hours in the remaining three sitting days before Parliament adjourns for the general election. Only two days earlier Hāpai Te Hauora and a number of Smokefree champions led the call for stronger legislation in the bill to support whānau who want to quit smoking and choose to do that by vaping.

Community voices add fresh air to World Smokefree Day - 31st May

To mark the day this year, Hāpai Te Hauora shares what ‘smokefree’ means to the people of Aotearoa. Hāpai is leading a campaign that asks Facebook users, whānau and friends to answer the question "What does smokefree mean to me?"

Hāpai has asked tamariki, rangatahi and whānau as well as health workers and academics to share their stories and opinions.

Cutting tobacco supply a key strategy needed to reach a Smokefree Aotearoa by 2025

With news of the latest tobacco tax increase, dairy owners are calling for extra help to protect them from robberies.

Hāpai Te Hauora is calling for an end to tobacco sales as a way to reduce the risk to dairies, and more importantly to decrease the huge death toll associated with tobacco-related illnesses.
